The GeoSwipe application ("GeoSwipe", "we", "us" or "our") is owned and operated by ELM APPS LTD. We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY?

At ELM APPS LTD, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. The GeoSwipe App is designed to operate with minimal personal data collection. We do not run in-app accounts or request personal identifiers such as your name, email address, precise location, contacts, photos, or profile information.

GeoSwipe is a geography learning app that allows users to explore countries and territories, read detailed country guides, listen to audio overviews, complete quizzes, earn experience points, progress through levels, compare countries, view interactive graphs, and download country content for offline use.

Your learning progress, including completed quizzes, experience points, levels, mastered countries, downloaded countries, and app settings, remains stored on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account in accordance with your Apple settings. We do not access, receive, or store this private iCloud learning progress on our own servers.

GeoSwipe does not use live AI features inside the App. The App does not send user-provided information or in-app activity to AI services for live processing. Some educational guide content may have been created or assisted by AI before being included in the App, but this does not involve processing your personal data inside the live App.

GeoSwipe uses Firebase Firestore to deliver country guide content and Firebase Storage to deliver images and audio. GeoSwipe also uses Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat analytics to understand general app usage, feature performance, subscription status, purchase status, and purchase entitlement status. We do not use this information to personally identify you, sell your data, or show behavioural advertising.

Apple manages billing, purchases, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and iCloud services under its own terms and privacy policies.

If you have any concerns about how your information is handled, you may contact us at support@elmapps.co.uk or raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom. The applicable legal framework is the UK GDPR and relevant European Union data privacy regulations.

HOW PROCESSING IS AUTHORISED

By using the GeoSwipe App, you acknowledge that limited information may be processed as described in this Privacy Policy to operate the App, deliver its features, manage subscriptions and purchases, and maintain reliability.

Where we rely on consent, it is provided voluntarily and solely for the purpose explained at the time consent is requested. Most processing in GeoSwipe is limited to what is necessary to operate the App, deliver content, manage subscriptions and purchases, provide support, and improve reliability.

Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. To do so, please contact us at support@elmapps.co.uk. Upon withdrawal, certain App functions may no longer operate as intended.

ELM APPS LTD determines the limited purposes and means of processing any personal data handled through the GeoSwipe App. We do not operate user accounts and do not directly collect your name, email address, precise location, contacts, photos, or profile information to use the App.

Your learning progress, including completed quizzes, experience points, levels, mastered countries, downloaded countries, and app settings, is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, within your private iCloud account managed by Apple.

For app content delivery, GeoSwipe uses Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage. For subscription and purchase entitlement management, GeoSwipe uses RevenueCat. For analytics and app improvement, GeoSwipe uses Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat analytics.

OUR PRIVACY PROMISE

We value your privacy and data security:

  • We do not require an account to use GeoSwipe.
  • We do not ask for your name or email address to use the App.
  • We do not request your precise location.
  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not use third-party advertising.
  • We do not use behavioural advertising tracking.
  • We do not use live AI features inside the App.
  • We do not access your private iCloud learning progress.
  • We comply with the UK GDPR and relevant European Union (EU 2016/679) regulations regarding your privacy.
  • You control your local and iCloud-stored App data.

HOW WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The GeoSwipe App is designed to collect and process as little personal data as possible. We do not operate user accounts and do not ask for personal identifiers such as your name, email address, or contact details to use the App.

Learning Progress and App Data: Your quiz progress, experience points, level, rank, mastered countries, downloaded countries, and app settings are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account. This data is not transmitted to or accessed by ELM APPS LTD through our own servers. Storage, backup, and security for iCloud content are governed by your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy policies.

Country Guide Content, Images, and Audio: GeoSwipe uses Firebase Firestore to deliver country guide content and Firebase Storage to deliver images and audio files. When the App requests this content, Firebase may process limited technical information necessary to provide the service securely and reliably, such as request information, device type, app version, operating system version, IP address, and technical logs.

Analytics and App Improvement: GeoSwipe uses Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat analytics to understand general app usage, feature performance, subscription behaviour, purchase behaviour, and entitlement status. This may include app opens, guide views, quiz completion events, feature interactions, app version, device type, operating system version, subscription status, purchase status, and anonymous or pseudonymous identifiers. We do not use this information to personally identify you, sell your data, or show behavioural advertising.

Billing, Subscriptions, and Purchases: GeoSwipe offers paid access through Apple’s in-app purchase system. This may include a yearly auto-renewing subscription, a one-time lifetime purchase, free trials, introductory offers, promotional offers, or other purchase options shown in the App.

If you purchase a yearly subscription, it will renew automatically unless cancelled through your Apple ID subscription settings before the renewal date, in accordance with Apple’s App Store terms. Any subscription duration, price, renewal terms, trial period, or introductory offer will be shown before you confirm your purchase.

If you purchase Lifetime Access, this is intended to unlock the applicable paid GeoSwipe features without recurring subscription payments, subject to this Privacy Policy, our Terms and Conditions, App Store rules, refund status, entitlement status, technical availability, third-party service availability, platform requirements, and continued availability of the App. As explained in our Terms and Conditions, “Lifetime Access” means access for the lifetime of the GeoSwipe app and service, not for the lifetime of any individual user.

All billing, renewal, cancellation, refund, and purchase management is handled directly by Apple through in-app purchases. We do not collect or process payment card details. Apple’s own privacy policy and App Store terms apply to these transactions. GeoSwipe uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status, purchase status, restore purchases, and unlock paid features.

You can manage or cancel Apple subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect according to Apple’s terms and does not usually result in an automatic refund for the current billing period.

Feedback Forms: GeoSwipe may allow you to submit optional feedback at the end of country guides. If you submit feedback, we may receive the feedback message, the country or guide it relates to, app version or technical context, and any personal information you voluntarily include. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in feedback submissions.

Support Communications: If you contact us for assistance, we will receive the information you choose to provide, typically your email address, message content, and any attachments. This data is used solely to respond to and resolve your enquiry.

Technical and Diagnostic Data: The App may receive limited, anonymised or aggregated technical information, such as crash reports or performance metrics, through Apple’s developer tools depending on your Apple settings. If we add a third-party crash reporting tool in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy.

We use information solely for the purpose of providing and improving the App’s features, maintaining security, managing subscriptions and purchases, delivering content, and ensuring a stable user experience. No data is sold, rented, traded, or used for behavioural advertising.

WHAT DATA WE HANDLE

The GeoSwipe App is designed to operate with minimal data processing. In this section, “handle” includes information that exists only inside the App on your device or private iCloud account. It does not mean that ELM APPS LTD collects or receives all of this information.

The categories of data are set out below:

Learning Progress and App Data Stored on Your Device/iCloud: GeoSwipe stores your quiz progress, experience points, level, rank, mastered countries, downloaded countries, and app settings locally on your device and, if enabled, within your private iCloud account, depending on your Apple settings. ELM APPS LTD does not collect, receive, host, or access this learning progress on its own servers.

Country Guide Content, Images, and Audio: GeoSwipe uses Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage to provide educational guide content, images, and audio. Firebase may process limited technical information required to deliver this content and maintain service reliability.

Analytics and Usage Information: GeoSwipe uses Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat analytics to understand general app usage and improve the App. This may include app opens, guide views, quiz completion events, feature interactions, app version, device type, operating system version, subscription status, purchase entitlement status, and anonymous or pseudonymous identifiers. This information is not used to personally identify you or show behavioural advertising.

Subscription and Purchase Information: Apple processes all payments, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and refunds through the App Store. RevenueCat helps GeoSwipe manage subscription status, lifetime purchase status, purchase history, entitlement status, restore purchases, and paid feature access. We do not receive your payment card details.

Feedback Submissions: If you submit feedback through the App, we may process the content of your feedback and related guide information to improve GeoSwipe and correct content issues.

Support Communications: If you contact us for assistance, we will receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message content, screenshots, and attachments. This data is used solely to respond to and resolve your enquiry.

Device and Technical Data: We do not embed advertising SDKs. Apple may, with your consent, share anonymised crash or diagnostic data to help improve stability. Firebase and RevenueCat may process limited device and technical data to provide analytics, content delivery, subscription management, purchase entitlement services, and service reliability.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use data strictly to enable the features of the GeoSwipe App and to maintain a secure, reliable user experience. We do not require personal identifiers, do not operate user accounts, do not request your precise location, and do not use your information for advertising, behavioural profiling, or resale.

  • Device and iCloud Storage: Your learning progress and downloaded content remain within your control on your device and, where enabled, in your private iCloud account.
  • Content Delivery: Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage are used to deliver guide content, images, and audio.
  • Subscription and Purchase Management: Apple and RevenueCat are used to process purchases and subscriptions, manage entitlements, verify active access, handle renewals or expiry status, and restore paid access.
  • Analytics and App Improvement: Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat analytics are used to understand general app usage and improve features.
  • Feedback and Support: Feedback and support messages are used to correct errors, improve content, and respond to enquiries.
  • Technical Performance: Anonymous, aggregated, or pseudonymous diagnostic and technical data may be used to improve the App’s stability and performance.
  • Compliance and Safety: Minimal data may be processed if required by law.

We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or behavioural tracking. All processing is carried out under the lawful bases of performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent where required, and legal obligation.

COOKIE POLICY

The GeoSwipe App does not use website cookies.

GeoSwipe does not use cookies or tracking technologies for advertising, behavioural marketing, or user profiling. We do not embed third-party advertising software within the App.

The App may use technologies similar to cookies, such as app installation identifiers or SDK-generated identifiers, through Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat. These are used for analytics, app functionality, subscription management, purchase entitlement management, and service reliability.

Where the App relies on Apple’s platform services, such as iCloud or in-app purchases, Apple may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy and cookie policies.

NO ADVERTISING TRACKING OR THIRD-PARTY ADVERTISING

GeoSwipe does not include third-party advertising SDKs, advertising identifiers for behavioural advertising, or tracking technologies used to track you across other apps or websites for advertising purposes.

GeoSwipe does use limited third-party analytics through Firebase Analytics and RevenueCat analytics to understand general app usage, feature performance, subscription status, purchase status, and purchase entitlement status. This information is used to improve the App, maintain paid access, and support reliability. It is not used for behavioural advertising or sold to third parties.

WHO RECEIVES OR PROCESSES YOUR DATA

We share or transmit data only where necessary to operate the GeoSwipe App and deliver its features. The following parties may receive or process limited data:

  • Apple (iCloud and App Store Services) – Storage, syncing, device settings, billing, purchases, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and optional diagnostics are managed by Apple Inc.
  • Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, and Analytics) – Firebase is used to deliver country guide content, images, audio files, and general app analytics.
  • RevenueCat (Subscription and Purchase Entitlement Management) – RevenueCat is used to manage yearly subscription status, lifetime purchase status, restore purchases, entitlement status, and access to paid features.
  • Email and IT Service Providers – Support queries are processed securely for response purposes.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data under any circumstances.

INTERNATIONAL DATA PROCESSING

Some of our technology partners may process data outside the United Kingdom.

  • Apple (iCloud and App Store Services): Data may be processed in global data centres.
  • Google Firebase: Data may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription, purchase entitlement, restore purchase, and analytics data may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions.
  • Email and IT Service Providers: Support communications may be processed outside the United Kingdom depending on the provider.

All transfers are protected by UK GDPR safeguards, including adequacy decisions, contractual clauses, or other lawful transfer mechanisms where required.

DATA SECURITY

We take your privacy and data protection seriously and follow appropriate technical and organisational measures in line with the UK GDPR to safeguard your information.

Data transmitted between the App and service providers such as Apple, Firebase, and RevenueCat is protected using secure network communication such as HTTPS/TLS.

We do not host or access your private iCloud learning progress through our own servers. Keep your device and iCloud account secured with a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and two-factor authentication.

Because GeoSwipe does not require accounts and much of your progress is stored locally or in your private iCloud account, we may not be able to identify or access some data unless you provide enough information for us to locate it.

You can delete local app data by deleting the App from your device. You can manage iCloud data through your Apple iCloud settings.

Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled through your Apple ID subscription settings. Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s App Store terms.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our services are not directed to children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 16. If you believe that a child has provided information, contact support@elmapps.co.uk immediately.

ADDITIONAL NOTES ON AI FEATURES

GeoSwipe does not use live AI features inside the App.

The App does not send user-provided information, personal information, or in-app activity to AI services for live processing.

Some country guide content may have been created or assisted by AI before being included in the App. This does not involve processing your personal data inside the live App.

GeoSwipe provides educational geography content, including country guides, maps, images, audio, quizzes, country comparisons, interactive graphs, and learning games. Although we aim to provide accurate and useful educational content, the App may contain errors, outdated information, or simplified explanations. The App is intended for general educational and informational use only.

Use your own judgement when interpreting educational content.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will appear in the App with a new “last updated” date.

If we make material changes, such as adding live AI features, advertising, user accounts, additional analytics tools, or third-party crash reporting tools, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.
